Slim is beautiful

I think I like this kind of career model. Work in a huge corporation(IBM, e.g.) for a very long time (1978-1993), and then started realizing his own ideas and dreams like a mad man(12 projects in a dozen of years).

One of my favorite stories of entrepreneurs is like this:

The idea of going into the web hosting industry came to Amir Golestan when he could not afford any more damaging downtime in his own business. Another factor that led him into the hosting industry was the lateness of responses to his inquiries, from the other hosting companies, which could take up to 2-3 business days.

今天去了徐家汇，去参加一个颁奖会议，上海交通大学夏安世教育基金会和美国Heatcraft （西克）公司共同举办的2005年度奖学金，据说夏安世是中国制冷学科的创始人。有8个中国知名大学的8位本科生和几个研究生，还有西安交大的一位教授获得了这个奖金。

其实我们去都没什么用，只是感受一下气氛，因为有heatcraft的CEO等几位老美在，所以整个会议基本上以英语为主，有些还有现场的口译。英语应该还是能听懂大部分的。

来回都是坐校车，去的时候比较慢，来的时候非常快，半个多小时就从徐汇到了闵行了。徐汇校区还真是不错，可惜没有时间参观。

上海的游行我也收到了邮件，除了告诉大家不要伤害日本友人和破坏产物之外，还建议大家带番茄和鸡蛋在警察叔叔没有注意的时候丢给应得的人。这是msn上收到的关于杭州的消息：
